These elephants started marching towards us than disappearing into the forest.We made enough room for them to cross and witnessed a family drama.......

Wow!, Shankar you seem to have had a great time with these social animals

Nice that you got them walking towards you. Wish the calf was more visible. Nicely captured. Thanks for sharing.

Wish they can roam freely. Unfortunately, they don't have much of free space and their traditional migratory corridors are either blocked or lost. I feel these elephants are very understanding.

Sabyaji,it seems they are very understanding.I have taken a video recording of the elephants crossing the road.This was what happened;
1.We stopped our car on seeing another car stopped in front of us, just after the Mule Hole Check-post
2.We saw a herd of elephants to our left
3.I alone came out of the car and started clicking my Canon 400D
4.After some time we(and the other cars who stopped)realised that the elephants want to cross the road
5.Everybody on their 'path' moved so that the herd could cross
6.The little ones were carefully "crossed" by their mothers
7.All others crossed peacefully except a young tusker who made a "mock" charge!
8.All went to the other side and started "grazing" as they do most of the time!
I thought even the young ones(may be 2 weeks old)have already adapted to human presence.I also realised that the wild elephants do not like 2 wheelers!The mock charge of the tusker was targetted at a 2 wheeler......
