Did you use stacked converters and then crop? I think I should convert my images using a 400 f2.8 IS lens +2xII TC+ 1.4xII TC.
As an aside, I would like to mention, that we all try to acquire the latest and the best cameras. We all talk about the IQ of the camera, lens etc. However, we don't focus on the IQ of the person behind the camera. There was one ranger in africa who shot closeups of elephant and rhinos with a 24mm lens and got awesome results. We need to try to take the maximum juice out of our equipment.
