Nice image. The eye contact is nice. The shutter speed was low. These birds are very agile and one needs a faster shutter speed or click at the right time when the bird is momentarily still. Is this a large crop? Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,
Sabyasachi

@Sabyasachi, yes this is a large crop. Could you please advise me on how much shutter speed approximately will give good detail of the subject?
And thank you for your comments.

Good perch and nice eye contact. Agree about the shutter speed. I think if the bird is perched then around 1/500 should be sufficient, even less shutter speed can work if you are folllowing the hand holding techniques properly. For birds in flight a higher shutter speed is required. You can check the Tips section for more details. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful pose, typical of a Priniya or a Robin (with its tail up). Nice first post.

Agree that a higher shutter speed would have helped. However, you were already at F5.6 and 400 ISO. I think you just had one more stop on the apreture to play with (F4.0) which may have given you a slightly higher shutter speed. Similarly, a 800 ISO would have also given you a higher shutter speed, but a 550D at 800 ISO could be a little noisy. Lastly, a lesser crop will also give you more sharpness and details.

Thanks for sharing and look forward to more.

regards
Rajan
