An image of a tigress (T-39) from Ranthambhore. Made this image using my dad's Nokia N8. She was very close to us and with my 300mm all I got was a part of her face :D I will see if any of the images with the 300mm look good enough to share.

EXIF (as decided by the mobile device): f2.8, 1/100sec, ISO 148, 6mm :D

Nice :) Why didnt you quickly change to your 100-400 or 70-300. The cat looks relaxed. ISO 148 sounds interesting.

Interesting. Doesn't the N8 feature any semi-manual mode? I should mention here that i'm a big fan of cell-phone cameras :D. Hope you didn't ruin your dad's fun by leaving him empty-handed when this happened. ;)

The N8 has a 12 MP camera and the E7 which I use has 8 MP (as it is a communicator). I hardly click with these because of their latency. The quality of pixels is not pretty good. However, Nokia has shown its 808 Pure View camera phone which has got a whooping 41 Mega Pixels. When I was in Nokia, I was told about the R&D on this but had never seen it.

You can switch off the basic flash and increase the ISO/signal, contrast, sharpness, white balance and exposure compensation.

Clearly I see the camera phones replacing the compact cameras.

The lens shown at the left looks more like a Gun to me. :)

Thanks guys. I had the 450D and 70-300 combination just beside me and I did make some images with it. Even at 70mm, the frame looks a li'l tight to me, and I'm tempted to try portraits of people so I think I need a general purpose 24-105 f4 L IS lens to accompany my 300 f/2.8 soon :D

Abhishek,

My dad was holding the 450D and the 70-300 connected, but the sad part was didn't know what to do with it :D

Sabyasachi,

I think with the Nokia Pureview, cameraphones have now come very very close to replacing compact digicams! Even with the Nokia N8, I have made images of people that look better than the ones from many lower end compact cameras. The "gun" at the left is my new lens; I'm sure it looks much smaller than your "gun" :D
