Shot in Vikarabad/Anantagiri yesterday afternoon. It was interesting to observe the spider's behavior at the time of making the kill. In fact, I was shocked at how fast the otherwise lazy spider could move to get this insect! Unfortunately, I was too much involved in seeing the 'show' and didn't make images of the actual killing.

ANy more insights ino this behavior is welcome :)

Nice shot, Bhargava. That's quite a big morsel :D. A little more DoF was required here, but you had a very low shutter speed already. It's nice that you could witness the event, better that you could capture it.

The web-building spiders may appear lazy at rest, but they are quick to sense trapped prey and quick to make a kill. In contrast to these, the tarantulas, jumping spiders etc. are active hunters which chase down their prey instead of trapping it.

Nice behavior captured. Did you try any other angles? Wish the light was better. Its good that you got a nice clean background. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Abhishek for the information.

It is often interesting watching these small fellows. In fact, if one concentrates on these smaller subjects one is more likely to find interesting behaviour vis-a-vis a tiger catching its prey. However, these small species don't get enough attention from photographers. Thanks for sharing.
