The eye contact is nice here. Wish the light was on the eye. In this condition I would have increased the ISO to 400 (as that doesn't add noise) and used a narrower aperture like f7.1 to get both the head and body in focus. I am fine with the present composition, but thinking how a vertical would look. Thanks for sharing.

I agree that a vertical might also look nice, but you will miss the branch on the right which is now framing the bird nicely. Wish light was falling on the eyes.

Personally, I'd have gone for ISO 200 and a narrower aperture like f7.1 as Mrudul mentioned. All the same, ISO 400 will probably do no harm as the 7D can handle noise quite well.

Ashok,
Where did you click this?

I agree that a higher ISO would have been fine, as that would have helped in getting a narrow aperture. The depth of field is higher when the aperture is narrow, so that you have a chance to the birds tail as well as head in focus. Thanks for sharing.
