A dead Oar-footed Crab (Matuta lunaris) on Karwar beach. These crabs often get killed when they are caught as by-catch in fishing nets. Even though they are removed from the nets and released on the shore, they are usually too far away from the tide to make it back safely to the sea, and most of them end up dying of exhaustion/dessication or get eaten by birds.

Thought of giving this image a more abstract look, so converted it to B&W and gave it a big contrast boost to make the water flowing away from the body look more prominent.

I liked the composition. The b/w treatment works well here. The details are nice. Thinking excluding the first horizontal white strip on the top would be good (pano composition). That would get more attention on the crap. Nicely done. Thanks for sharing.

Mrudul: I retained all the available space at the top because I wanted the crab at the rule-of-thirds position. Will try a pano crop and see how it looks.
Forgot to mention earlier, I have cloned out a couple of dust spots in this image.

Dust spot cloning is acceptable.

I like the idea. I would still try to experiment with contrast. I am wondering how it will look in colour.

Here you have used a higher shutter speed. I think sacrificing a bit of shutter speed for getting more depth of field would have been better.

Due to the semi-circular pattern on top of the crab, isolating that part and getting a closeup with the crab may be another option. Thanks for sharing.

I agree with you on the DoF.
Sabyasachi, I converted it to B&W to bring out the textures. In the original image there are no significant colours apart from the greenish yellow of the crab. Will post a colour version if you would like to see it.
