Photographed this at Chilika in Jan 2020. It snatched the snake caught by the Ibis and flew up in the opposite direction to our boat. So even if the heron is flying away in the frame, I liked the frame as we can see the Ibis looking on in the grass as the heron flew away with the catch.

Canon 80D, Canon 100-400mm L IS USM, ISO 2000, 1/1250, f8, hand held, full frame.

P.S - As we all will be staying indoors for next couple of days, would love to see photographs from our archives. I hope all of you are safe. Please take care and stay safe, stay healthy.

This large bird often snatches prey from the black-headed ibis. Life and death struggle goes on all the time here. This is an interesting shot showing who the dominant bird is. Wing spread of the bird has come out well. And since the grey heron head is turned the side profile of head is visible and so this image works. Thanks for sharing.

Nice live scene captured so beautifully. Food of egret, ibis, heron etc includes, inter alia, frog, insect, small reptile like keelback .....
I am yet to come across any information when such bird encounters baby monocled cobra or krait which are venomous.
Thanks for sharing. SaktiWild
