Albino Deer

Did not see the black panther but saw this deer in the ever amazing forests of Kabini during my last visit . Nikon 7100+150-600mm FL460mm ISO800 F/8 1/160s June 2015 on a very foggy, wet morning.I thought the fog was misrepresenting the actual coloration. But it turned out this deer was only one of its kind in the forest. Unfortunately I could not get it in the clear.

Rare sighting. Its good you got the head in clear and its looking toward you. Nicely captured.

Sabyasachi had sighted a albino deer in IIT Chennai campus a couple of years back.

First time I am seeing albino Chital, much rare in comparison to albino Blackbuck which is also rare. Nice pose captured. Thanks for sharing. SaktiWild

There is partial loss of pigmentation in this deer and this is known as Leucistic condition or Leucism. A true albino would also have the same loss of pigmentation in its eyes. Even though this deer is not an albino, there is nothing to take away from this sighting because Leucistic deer are also not common. So it is certainly a nice find. Thanks for sharing.
