An ordinary everyday bird could look so beautiful when well photographed.

" .........but once it settles down to flight the neck is darted before, but is doubled up and drawn in - that, in fact, is the token by which one may know members of the heron tribe from other waterside birds on the wing."

Birds are colourful and hence give us much joy even when their calls are not melodious to our ears.

You have used f4, so depth of field is low. From this position, the body is close to us and the head is a few inches away. So the head is not covered by depth of field. This needed a narrow aperture. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,
