Each species whther it is malabar civet or any other living creature, plays an important part in our environment. They help maintain the biodiversity and balance in nature. Today many animal species are in danger of extinction. The reason causing the decrease in the number of animals is mainly from human beings and loss of habitat. It is high time we must take some measures to protect endangered animals.
Firstly, we should educate people at home and school from the tender age about the importance of wild animals for maintaining the ecosystem and biodiversity. Also every species have right to live in this planet. Young and people living in the fringes of the forest should be educated how to protect our environment in general and how to protect endangered animals in particular. They should be told about the things that threat the safety of wildlife so that they can avoid doing them. This should be included in their curriculum at school.
Secondly, the government of India and state governments should set up national parks and preserves remaining wild life. Tourism is a multibillion dollar industry that needs to be harnessed and the profit should be used to develop habitat, research, education, benefit of forest department and their families and improving life of people living around the fringes. Salaries and incentives for people working with forest department should be made reasonable for survival and sustenance and to attract young people to join forest related service.
Last but not least, State and Government of India must enforce strict law with more serious punishment- capital punishment for violators and poachers.
In general, protecting wild animals is not one person's job but it needs the solidarity of human beings all over India and world. Each one of us has the responsibility for protecting environment and saving wildlife and endangered species before it is too late.
