It was the summer of 2013, and only a few months earlier the ruling male and female Tigers of Telia lake area were thrown out of their long held territory. The female was the well known Madhuri who...
I like how you composed this, showing typical RTR habitat. What focal length did you shoot this at? On non-IS lenses, it is recommended to aim fr a shutter speed which is inverse of focal length- for...
Loved this buddy. One of your best :)
Now, cut some space from the bottom, add that space to the top if there is some space at the top in the original image (personally I find the orange hues of...
Standing tall | Spotted Deer | Kabini, Karnataka | Canon EOS 7D, Canon EF 300 f/2.8 L IS II USM | f/4, ISO 640, EC -1/3, 1/1250 sec, evaluative metering.
Fabulous sighting. Seems like hard conditions for photography with low light and lots of mist. There is perhaps a slight color cast of magenta which can be corrected quite easily during processing.
Looks good. Agree about the vertical composition though. On a side note, I saw a Leopard only once in Ranthambore in my 6 trips over 6 years, so you sure got lucky here.
Nice, warm colors. It is never easy to make a compelling image when the subject is facing away from you, but the addition of the forest cover in the direction of the animal helps here. I cannot see...
Not just seeing Tigers, but tracking them is equally fun. We saw this massive male cross a jungle road, and dear friend Sheshadri Vasan who had prior knowledge of a kill near by knew exactly where we...
Agree with most of the earlier comments. I have fond memories of this water hole from 2012, and 2013, when I saw Tigers in the exact place there are deer now regularly.
Nice angle. I like the image overall, but agree that lesser space at the bottom would enhance the image. Also, a much lower ISO would have sufficed here.
Nice feel to the image; I like the fact that you included habitat to show the long winding forest track. I am afraid the days of seeing 20+ dholes together are all but gone. The last time I saw so...
Dear all,
Thank you for your feedback.
This was the very first safari with my 7D mk II and I mistook the 10 fps shooting speed for a good shutter speed. When I stopped shooting and looked at...
Leopard | Canon EOS 7D Mark II, Canon EF 300 f/2.8 L IS II USM | f/4, ISO 400, EC -1/3, 1/80 sec, evaluative metering | Kabini, Karnataka | December 2014.
Dear All, thank you.
This image is about a 10% crop. I believe the noise in the BG is more because of the high ISO (by 7D standards) than because of cropping.
Thanks to that morning's amazing experience with a Leopard and having known a little bit of this particular individual's movement patterns, I set off into the jungle for the afternoon safari with...
A Spotted Deer, stretches high up to reach out to its favorite leaves.

She seems surprised to sense your presence! I like that *surprise* sort of a look on her.
Thanks for sharing this, Deepak! Absolutely gripping.
A nice image. However, I feel that a slightly off center composition with lesser space to the left and also lesser space at the bottom might be more effective. Considering that adding more space at...
It was one of those action packed safaris; we came upon 4 huge Elephants- all of them tuskers, which honestly is not a common sight. This image shows only a couple of them, but I managed some...
A species which is normally dismissed as being too plain to attract photographers' attention, finds its share of fame in the human circles during its colorful transformation for the breeding season....
The tusker looks disproportionately huge!
The elephant looks a little too off the normal color. May be you could try playing around with hue values and correct it.
Good to see T-39 and her male cub in a joyful mood. The cub has surely grown fast and well. Nice action image with fun, frolic and affection between the mother and cub all thrown into a single frame....
You chose an image with a good pose; the raised front foot and the trunk curled into its mouth add to the image. I feel you could have easily used ISO 400 for a higher shutter speed because in its...
